As already mentioned in my previous poetry posts, after many many years, I've once again turned my hand to trying to craft poetry. This in a large part has been motivated by the various themes on BlueSky that mix poetry with photography. For example, #ImageAndVerse or #PaintByWords. Both encourage you to write your own poems matched with one of your own images. With that in mind here is are even more of my most recent attempts.
Barbed Shadow
Barbs waiting to bite
Pierce and bleed
Restrain and still
Dominate and own
Discipline and control
Ties that bind
Messages of pain
Loss of will
Flesh for sale
Earworm
"Woke up, fell out of bed
Dragged a comb across my head"
Nooo, an earworm attack!
I don’t want to wake up!
I no longer have hair to comb!
Leave me alone aural addiction.
I am an empty vessel.
You would only rattle around;
Much as you’re doing now.
Please save us sufferers.
Rid us of this noisy pestilence,
This musical parasite.
It keeps me awake far too long.
Age
The body burns;
It breaks down.
Leaving the husk,
A shell of a man.
Pumicestone
Washed ashore
Dried on desiccated sands
Windswept pebble
Information Overload
Information challenges us to keep up.
It's a tidal wave,
Drowning us in knowledge.
It's an onslaught,
Beating us into submission.
How can anyone keep abreast?
None can know all.
How can fact be filtered from fiction?
An increasingly onerous task,
Made so much wors
By the gleeful use to deceive
Of artificial intelligence—
A most grievous misnomer.
Best take time to stop,
And smell the flowers.
