As already mentioned in my previous poetry posts, after many many years, I've once again turned my hand to trying to craft poetry. This in a large part has been motivated by the various themes on BlueSky that mix poetry with photography. For example, #ImageAndVerse or #PaintByWords. Both encourage you to write your own poems matched with one of your own images. With that in mind here is are even more of my most recent attempts.
Beauty need not be
Grandiose in scale
With the vital vibrance
Of a much smaller vision
Even the tiniest can stun
Nocturne #1
Darkness deep, and all quite quiet.
Soft sounds of gentle wisps
All that breaks the peace.
Even then, barely so.
Yet there is life in such stillness.
High up, the owls and bats
Live nocturnal lives.
Beneath our feet, others move
Ungoverned by light.
Life is unceasing; constant.
Unseen
I can spew hate
Further than you can see.
To places others have decided
You've no right to be.
I can send destruction
To maim and kill.
I have no love:
Only death and obliteration.
Old Photos
Looking back
At a place you once were
As a person you once were
Remembering a relaxed existence
Recalling the surrounding beauty
Fond nostalgia
Edited by time itself
Cast in stark contrast
With now.
Raindrops
The light rain falls
Surprisingly loud on my jacket.
Looking upward
It’s soft and cold on my face.
I can see the drops
Falling towards me
As in some movie scene
Evoking failed romance.
I just see falling rain
And think it beautiful.
